About John
John Asafu-Adjaye is a Director in the Economic & Financial Consulting segment with more than 25 years’ experience providing research and consulting services to international agencies, major corporates and professional services firms across Australia, Africa and the Asia Pacific region. John’s areas of expertise include economic modelling, impact analysis, policy analysis, feasibility studies and economic and financial evaluations.
Presently, John is an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Queensland, where he teaches and conducts research in applied economics and natural resource economics.
John’s previous clients include the African Development Bank; the Australian Agency for International Development; the Danish International Development Agency; ExxonMobil; the Food and Agriculture Organisation; the UN Economic Commission for Asia and the Pacific; World Bank; and various consulting firms.
Relevant Experience: :
- Analysed the economic benefits of new container terminals in Papua New Guinea (‘PNG’)
- Prepared a submission on taxation policies and reforms for the PNG Taxation Review
- Worked for the World Bank, the African Development Bank and the African Economic Research Consortium on issues related to climate change adaptation and mitigation
- Analysed the economic impacts of the Ok Tedi Mine and liquefied natural gas (‘LNG’) production in PNG
