About Tensie
Tensie Axton specializes in developing and executing successful operational and financial strategies for businesses in various stages of their business cycle. Ms. Axton has more than 30 years of experience in a variety of industries, including healthcare, financial institutions, telecom and media, business services, manufacturing and distribution.
Ms. Axton’s experience includes mergers and acquisitions, start-up and high-growth businesses, capital markets, lender negotiations, financial reporting, system implementations, operations and human resources.
Prior to FTI Consulting, she was the Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) of Neighbors Health, a 34-location, multistate, free-standing emergency room company, the Chief Operating Officer (“COO”) of a roll-up of troubled multidisciplinary physician practices and the CFO of a bank holding company.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Axton spent 20 years at KPMG in roles including Auditor and Transaction Services Partner. As an auditor, her clients were primarily publicly traded banks that were active in both public debt and equity markets. As Transaction Services Partner, she performed financial diligence on more than 200 companies and led the financial integrations of multibillion-dollar public entities in the mining and waste industries.
During her tenure at KPMG, she led the Transaction Services Practices in Denver and Silicon Valley and served as the office Managing Partner for the Denver office, where she was Lead Client Service Partner on various Fortune 1000 companies.
Relevant Experience:
- Served as Interim CFO (and subsequently Chief Restructuring Officer) for a private equity-owned telecom provider with $1.6 billion of debt; negotiated an amend and extend with more than 50 lenders, managed liquidity and relationships with credit agencies and implemented a company-wide cost savings program
- Served as Interim CFO (and Interim Chief Administrative Officer) of a private equity-owned 135-location multistate medspa company; led a financial statement restatement, a forensic investigation and major system improvements related to revenue recognition
- Served as CFO of a 34-location, multistate, free-standing emergency room company; implemented revenue cycle and accounting systems, developed cash forecasting processes, managed more than 150 physician investors and ultimately sold assets through 363 sale in Chapter 11
- Served as Chief Operating Officer of a management services organization (“MSO”) and roll-up of multidisciplinary physician practices
- Served as CFO of a bank holding company; raised private equity capital and developed and implemented FDIC- and OCC-approved business plans
- Served as office Managing Partner of KPMG’s Denver office and leader of Transaction Services practices in Silicon Valley and Denver
- Served as Vice President, Finance of a publicly traded distributor for the manufactured housing industry
