About Richard
Richard Palmer brings more than 20 years of experience to FTI Technology. Focusing on modernisation and the use of advanced technologies to transform legal operations, Mr. Palmer works with global corporate organisations to deliver against business case objectives for reducing cost and risk. Mr. Palmer has expertise supporting widespread organisational objectives in digital transformation, leveraging industry-leading legal, risk and compliance-focused software-as-a-service platforms.
Mr. Palmer works with clients to apply advanced technology and artificial intelligence solutions to solve complex legal, regulatory and business issues across many of today’s most pressing risk categories. These include mass claims, financial crime, internal investigations and compliance monitoring, data privacy and customer remediation. Mr. Palmer also has experience with the Digital Operational Resilience Act (‘DORA’), helping financial institutions improve operational resilience.
Bringing deep domain expertise in developing and applying bespoke analytics solutions and customised managed services frameworks, Mr. Palmer works with clients from original idea to implementation and benefit realisation. He serves as a trusted partner to his clients, often supporting multiyear managed services engagements that deliver ongoing value, with a focus on business transformation and reducing data-related risks. He has delivered technology-driven, large-scale solutions for clients across mass claims processing and management, legal hold, internal investigations and whistleblower response and consumer protections.
Prior to joining FTI Technology, Mr. Palmer held a position within EY’s Forensics and Integrity Services. He was European head of Software & Science for a leading company in machine learning science, working in big data analytics. Mr. Palmer has also held senior positions in software engineering, strategy consulting, cloud-based data analytics and forensics.
Mr. Palmer has published and presented at numerous data analytic conferences, and he has acted as an advisor to the UK Government and European Union on technology-forward programmes.
Relevant Experience:
- Led multiple engagements with major financial services institutions to transform legal operations, leveraging the latest e-discovery platforms to reduce cost and risk
- Managed a portfolio of a large-scale customer rectification programmes for a UK high street bank across its consumer lending businesses, leveraging advanced analytics to deliver improved customer outcomes
- Supported a tier one investment bank through the global FX investigation and subsequent compliance controls remediation programme, which led to a meaningful reduction in the level of fines imposed by global regulators
- Led investigative response activities, data analysis and claims management solution development for multiple, global mass claims matters involving multinational organisations in the technology and transportation industries
