About Nathan
Nathan Schlesinger leads the Health practice in Australia. Nathan brings more than 25 years of experience advising public and private sector health and aged care clients. He has helped to improve, reform and transform multiple health services, organisations and government agencies across the hospitals, health insurance, primary care, aged care, human services and pharma and life sciences sectors.
Nathan has provided expert guidance and support to healthcare professionals at all levels, from senior executives to frontline clinical staff. He has helped them develop effective strategies, improve their organisation’s operational and financial performance, implement new care models, innovate and apply new technologies and manage large and transformative programs of work.
Nathan has a passion for system redesign, capacity building and making Australia’s health system more patient-centred. He is known for his considered approach to complex challenges and for successfully bringing together and leading teams that deliver tangible outcomes. Prior to joining FTI Consulting, he was the Australian Health Industry and Global Health Services Leader at PwC. Nathan also holds board positions on the Camilla and Marc Foundation and Wolper Hospital Foundation.
Relevant Experience:
- Led multiple efficiency and productivity improvement programs for health providers across both the public and private sectors in NSW, Qld, SA, Victoria and for private hospital groups
- Key advisor to NSW Health through the COVID-19 pandemic — designed and operated two mass vaccination hubs, stood up a new end-to-end supply chain for the pandemic response, designed alternative workforce models and implemented virtual care services
- Led a range of strategic initiatives for a large aged care provider including integration of an acquired home care provider, built the strategy for growth into the disability sector and improved quality outcomes through a customer-centric design approach
- Developed the vision and strategy for the Liverpool Health and Education Precinct including multistakeholder workshops and economic impact analysis
- Operational due diligence, transformation PMO and hospital performance improvement activities for a large private hospital provider who was acquired by a private equity group
