About Larissa
Larissa Gotguelf is an accomplished real estate and restructuring consulting professional with more than 25 years of experience in commercial real estate, restructuring, interim management, business strategy and operations and litigation consulting.
Ms. Gotguelf has provided transaction and financial advisory services in consulting, restructuring and litigation settings to real estate investors, developers, lenders, loan servicers, receivers, corporate real estate users and commercial mortgage-backed securities (“CMBS”) investors. She also brings extensive experience in interim management, real estate leasing and negotiations, acquisition and disposition, site selection, corporate finance, business strategy and portfolio analysis.
Throughout her career, Ms. Gotguelf has advised clients in matters involving a variety of property types, including retail, hotel and leisure, land, office, multifamily, healthcare, senior housing and fractional ownership. Her work on these assignments involved financial modeling, market research, debt restructuring, damages analysis and valuation, as well as claims analysis, disposition strategy and liquidation, CMBS transactions, underwriting review and due diligence. In addition to real estate, Ms. Gotguelf has worked with organizations in investment management, healthcare, financial services and education sectors.
Ms. Gotguelf’s clients have included such organizations as Aequitas Capital Receivership, Midland Loan Services, Loma Linda University Medical Center, LNR, ORIX, Bank of America, JPMorganChase, Ambac, Residential Capital, Diablo Grande and Beazer.
Ms. Gotguelf has been invited to speak on restructuring and real estate industry topics by the Turnaround Management Association (“TMA”), the American Bankruptcy Institute (“ABI”) and several other professional associations and firms. Prior to joining FTI Consulting, she was a senior consultant in the Strategy and Operations practice of Deloitte Consulting. Preceding this role, Ms. Gotguelf served as a real estate advisor and a vice president of The Western Group.
Relevant Experience:
- Advised the trustees of a high‐profile, multi-hundred-million-dollar probate estate on monetization of a uniquely large and diverse urban real estate portfolio; played an integral role in planning and implementing property disposition strategy
- Worked for the receiver appointed by the federal court for Aequitas Capital, a failed investment management firm that had operated a Ponzi scheme; played a critical role in the operations of the multi-entity estate, monetization of the assets, settlement of legal actions brought by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and 14 state attorneys general, the claims and distribution plan design and implementation processes, and the wind down
- Advised a special servicer in connection with the restructuring of a portfolio of five iconic resorts and the associated $1 billion CMBS loan that was repaid in full
- Served as a financial advisor to the debtor in the Chapter 11 bankruptcy of Diablo Grande, a former owner and developer of a 29,000-acre master-planned residential and golf community in California
