Jeff D. Benton

Jeff Benton is a member of FTI Consulting’s Healthcare practice, where he leads the Financial Operations team. With more than 40 years of experience in healthcare finance, accounting and real estate, Mr. Benton specializes in mergers and acquisitions, turnarounds, restructuring and workout projects for both stable and financially distressed clients. He has also served on the boards of a Medicaid health maintenance organization (“HMO”), a statewide integrated delivery system and a captive reinsurance company.

For nearly 25 years, Mr. Benton has provided consulting and expert testimony in the healthcare sector, following 15 years in various senior finance roles. His experience includes serving as Chief Financial Officer for an HMO, Senior Vice President of Finance for a healthcare management firm and Corporate Controller for a $2 billion, six-hospital health system. His work has encompassed loan workouts, due diligence, operational turnarounds, valuations and process re-engineering, with a focus on managing challenging situations and ensuring timely responses.

Mr. Benton emphasizes the use of data and analytics in overseeing complex operations. Throughout his consulting career, he has represented clients across nearly every healthcare sector, including hospitals, continuing care retirement communities (“CCRCs”), health insurers, managed care organizations, independent delivery systems, surgery centers, physician associations, practice management companies, ambulatory care clinics, skilled nursing facilities, home healthcare, medical suppliers, diagnostic imaging and assisted living.

Relevant Experience:

• Held Responsible Officer roles, including Chief Restructuring Officer (“CRO”), Chief Administrative Officer, Chief Strategic Implementation Officer and Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”)
• Served as Financial Advisor for various healthcare entities, from small operators to large nonprofits
• Worked with international healthcare clients in Guam, Colombia, Vietnam, Kuwait and extensively in the UK
• Held senior finance roles in HMOs, physician practice management (“PMM”) companies and hospital systems
• Served as Financial Advisor in bankruptcy matters, representing both creditors and debtors
• Provided expert testimony and technical industry advice in numerous healthcare-related disputes
