About Edward
Edward Knight is a trusted advisor to executives and boards on strategic issues involving M&A, fundraising and activist shareholders. Mr. Knight has recently focused on the technology and healthcare space, but has been a generalist for much of his career. He has more than 25 years’ experience in investment banking and has acted as defence advisor on many high-profile UK takeovers and has helped listed companies raise more than £15 billion in primary equity.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Knight advised companies in the UK mid-cap space at both Investec, where he was a Managing Director on the Advisory team, and at Peel Hunt, where he was head of Telecom, Media & Technology (‘TMT’). At both companies, Mr. Knight was instrumental in developing their respective technology franchises by winning numerous retained client mandates. Additionally, he served as the lead investment banking advisor on two high-profile AIM-listed IPOs, was involved in many M&A defences and transacted on numerous acquisition-related equity fundraisings.
Mr. Knight began his career at Merrill Lynch, working on its UK Equity Advisory team before moving to Morgan Stanley in 2004 as a founder-member of its UK Corporate Broking team, where he helped grow the department to 23 retained FTSE 100 clients. At Morgan Stanley, Mr. Knight worked on several large transactions, including helping clients raise more than £9 billion in primary equity in 2008. He also has valuable experience in-house, most notably with Shire, advising on the defence of their takeover offer from AbbVie in 2014. Over the years, Mr. Knight has been involved in many activist shareholder situations with successful outcomes for his clients.
