About Andrew
Andrew Szwez has more than 20 years of experience in regulatory investigations, data analysis and e-discovery. Mr. Szwez serves as a trusted advisor to corporations and law firms involved in investigations, complex multijurisdictional litigation and merger clearance reviews. He has worked with clients in a range of highly regulated industries, including pharmaceutical, energy, automotive and financial services.
Mr. Szwez has significant experience in the areas of data processing, analysis, review and production, which often involves tens of millions of documents and multiple foreign languages. Coordinating global teams, Mr. Szwez leads large-scale e-discovery and document review matters in multiple jurisdictions while ensuring clients remain compliant with data privacy and data protection laws, including the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation and China’s Guarding State Secrets law. He frequently helps clients navigate complexities related to collecting, reviewing and producing information from emerging data sources, such as cloud collaboration tools and chat applications
Mr. Szwez supports clients through high-stakes antitrust matters, including Hart-Scott-Rodino second requests, and is experienced in helping clients negotiate data and document production parameters with regulatory agencies, including the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and Department of Justice. He is a leader in FTI Technology’s involvement in approximately one-third of second requests that occur each year. Mr. Szwez is also a trusted advisor and partner to many of the preeminent antitrust law firms and has extensive experience in supporting cross-border Foreign Corrupt Practices Act investigations.
Prior to joining FTI Technology, Mr. Szwez was a senior application engineer and supported projects that provided complex, data-driven workflow systems for the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Relevant Experience:
- Advised a large, global chemical construction company under investigation for collusion and price fixing; collected data from eight countries across Europe, including Germany, Turkey and the UK, and delivered a time-sensitive response to government agencies before also helping the client respond to related civil suits
- Assisted a second request investigation related to a U.S.-based energy industry merger involving more than 18 million company documents in scope as potentially relevant to the FTC
- Advised a global life sciences company in a series of antitrust and merger clearance investigations in the United States and Europe; handled large volumes of data from numerous emerging data sources and document production to agencies, including the FTC, European Commission and the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority
